Things to enjoy during Cricket Match Telecast

Cricket World Cup '11 has started with a bang. The Inaugural match between India & Bangladesh is on while writing this blog. India has put a mammoth target of 370 runs in front of Bangladesh. Match is quite interesting as the host have fought well and has scored 264 till now, but still India is at better position. Everyone is glued to their TV set as the match is quite interesting. But have you noticed that there is something else that makes the matches more interesting. Yes, its the innovative and fresh advertisements that are broad casted during breaks. I personally enjoy them very much. You must have noticed the difference in ads broad casted during cricket season. Almost all of them will have a taste of cricket will a new look and new theme. Every advertisement better than other. With cricket breaking the demographic barrier the advertisements also does the same. You can find ads for every class and every age. Unlike conventional TV programs here almost all products can be showcased on a single platform. A boon for the marketing manager where they don't have to relate the program with their products in which their ads will be showcased. It's also a win win situation for advertisement firms when most of the products come up with new advertisements. So lets hope for interesting advertisements along with competitive matches during this world cup and pray for India to win.

Something was missing at CWG '10 opening ceremony

It was the evening of the 3rd day of October, 2010. Billions of eyballs were directed towards the National Capital, New Delhi. India stood to the expectations of those eagerly waiting eyballs and at last the growing super power showcased her brilliance to the world at the gala opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2010. The perfect combination of tradition and technology helped the world to know about India in a span of three hours. Be it the traditional dance form or the yoga act or the Bharat Darshan by Indian railway, each and every act revealed India's traditional value with a tinge of modernity. For those who were lucky enough to book a berth at JLN Stadium, it must be the most memorable day of their life and for others our very own Doordarshan was there to show case the programme LIVE. But something was missing during the Live telecast. Those who watched the programme must have noticed a new set of advertisers. A very uncommon for an sporting event. The tradional PEPSI, COLA , NIKE and REEBOK were off air. Forced sponsorship was clearly visible from the advertisements that cropped up at regular intervals. Ads from state tourism were acceptable but what was Indian railway trying to advertise with the song "Rail gaddi...". Barring one or two private advertisers only the public sector companies were there during the breaks to increase the GK about Navratnas. DD was able to achieve a decent 3.6 TRP during the live telecast. Few new comers in mobile phone sector were able to sense this opportunity and utilised it to make their presence felt among the mass consumers. It was really painful to see the big Indian corporates pulling out their hands from the khel kumbh. They were all missing at CWG '10 opening ceremony. I belive that they not only missed a chance to broadcast their patriotism but also missed the chance to touch the hearts of mass consumer.

"RANN"

"Rann" the latest flick by Ram Gopal Verma. A well scripted movie about the growing News channels making them aware of their responsibilities. Well we can't say the movie was awesome but it will make you fell ashamed of the India's current situation. How cunning the politicians could be to get their share of power is clearly depicted in this movie. A very pertinent question is raised in this movie, " Why should the politicians think about common people when the common people themselves do no have time to think about others ?".

It should be our duty to think and act for the country we are living in. Whatever our limitations are we should try to work within that

Oops Terror again

Thinking to dedicate a  separate blog on Terrorism. You must be wondering has this fellow gone insane. When ever body is thinking to wipe out terror from its root, he is talking to dedicate a separate blog to the terrorist. Would it be an honour to the terrorist ? Well my answer to this is simple. Had some great author done this it would definitely have been an honor to them but not if do that. But let me tell you, nothing can be a better topic to write on than terrorism. New targets, new venue, more confidence, more blame game and the masala that a hot selling book or bollywood movie would require to steal the show. Yes, I am talking about the latest attack on Sri lanka cricket team. The confidence with which these masterminds have slapped on the face of a nation is really a thing to emulate. One wonder what these terrorists want. Whom do they want to target. A Nation, its soldier, its culture, youth, women or children. Now visiting sports men have added up to the list. Well this is not the first time when hardliners have attacked on players. The Munich Massacre of 1972 summer Olympic in which 11 Israeli Olympic team member were taken hostage and then killed really shook the world. The recent incident seems that the terrorist wanted to make remix of Munich massacre for the new generation. The comfort with which they reached the spot and then walked away comfortably is really praise worthy. Viewers keeping close watch on this incident must have seen video footage, on new channel, of how comfortably three of the terrorist heavily loaded with ammunitions crosses police vehicle. Not a single of the 11 terrorist as claimed by news channels were caught or killed. Now the blame game has started. Ministers from Pakistan blaming India that it was a revenge taken by India for the mumbai attack. All I can say it's "A good bouncer". The cricketers were lucky to survive the attack. I could only pray that every one of us would get lucky so that we can evade the bullets of these terrorist and could die our natural death because the ease with which they are reaching their target it seems that only God can help us.

A Salute to the Martyrs of Mumbai

The night of 26th Nov, 2008 has made its marks in the history of India but all for wrong reasons. Few terrorist armed with modern weapons started firing blindly as if they were playing some latest video game and were scoring points by killing innocent people. The horrifying experience that startled the whole world ended after around 60 hours of tireless effort from our commandos. Its very difficult to believe that an attack of such magnitude can take place in the commercial capital of India and that also in places like Hotel Taj and oberoi. Well we all know that the terrorist have no religions and its very difficult to realise what goes in their mind but the intelligence failure that has taken place is really worrisome.
Media has termed this incidence as India's 9/11 but they forgot that 9/11 in India has started occurring frequently be it in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore or Hyderabad. America has learnt its lesson after just one 9/11 and has not allowed the incidence to re-occur but God knows when will India learn its lesson. At the end of the operation politicians started their duty by giving speeches and announcing compensation to the deceased. Indians started forwarding SMS to lit candle in memory of the brave commandos and pay homage. I respect their feelings but will the terrorist care for these feelings and stop attacking India. Friends these terrorist should be replied by action and not words. Indian police have been demanding police reforms since a long time but the politicians have no time to think upon it. RPFs at CST railway station were facing the terrorist with lathis in their hand . Security gets beefed up after every attack but that lasts only for few days.
Now the question arises what should be done ? Should Indian intelligence agency and security forces learn from the American and British forces. Lack of proper co-ordination between different Indian forces and the multi level hierarchy causes a major problem in the proper functioning of our forces.
Whatever the attitude of our politicians might be our brave forces never think twice before jumping into the war to save the life of Innocent Indians. We salute the Martyrs from our heart and hope their sacrifice would act as an eye opener before its too late.
May your soul rest in peace

Finally the kangaroos under the Tiger's Paw

At last team India has achieved what every Indian cricket fans dream of. The 2-0 win over Australia in Border-Gavaskar Trophy has proved that the young warriors have matured. Now we are ranked No. 2 (Still behind Australia) in ICC test team ranking. But are we on the verge of breaking the dominance of Australian team. Probably yes. Some of the critics are skeptic that with the retirement of Ganguly and Kumble a void would be created in the dressing room and that may hamper the team prospect of becoming number one. The charismatic leadership of M.S. Dhoni is already proving them wrong. After showing his leadership quality in the Shorter forms MSD has also proved himself in Test match. Let us hope that the new talents getting in the team are not deciduous in their performance and give a consistent performance and break the polarity in the game. Congrats to team INDIA. DADA and JUMBO
